Keeping Children at the Center of Educational Policy

Educational policies may change with political priorities, but the best interests of the child should remain constant. Early childhood development practitioners play a vital role in ensuring that every policy is interpreted and implemented in ways that protect children’s rights, promote equitable learning opportunities, and support holistic development.

On July 22, 2026 we gathered for a multilingual WoFo Global Café, and explored questions such as:

  • How can early childhood practitioners keep children’s rights and well-being at the center when educational policies and political priorities change?
  • What responsibilities do practitioners, leaders, and advocates have when implementing policies that may not fully reflect the needs of children, families, or communities?
  • How can we help ensure that every child continues to have access to equitable, inclusive, and meaningful learning opportunities?

Groups shared experiences from different countries and contexts, and identified common challenges and possibilities.

People who commit their lives to young children and their families have powerful stories to tell and we can find our own hope and inspiration as we listen.  WoFo Global Café is the space where people gather to share their stories.  Stop by for tea and find affirmation and companionship.
