Why Aboriginal Education Matters
Dawn Westlands, Canada

We recently had the honor of being hosted by Fionn Yaxley for a visit to Eagle’s Nest Aboriginal Head Start Preschool in Vancouver, Canada.  This special program will be included in the center tours at the 2021 World Forum.  During our visit, Program Coordinator, Dawn Westlands, shared her views on why it is important that aboriginal children have an opportunity to experience indigenous education.

Nga mihi ki a koe. Thank you for sharing your spirit and your journey for your children and programme. Children can stand proud in their identity culture and language. If you know where you come from, your past will go with you on the journey to your future

People who commit their lives to young children and their families have powerful stories to tell and we can find our own hope and inspiration as we listen.  WoFo Global Café is the space where people gather to share their stories.  Stop by for tea and find affirmation and companionship.
